Solidus Verify
Solidus Verify vs Stripe Identity
Stripe Identity's own architecture locks its output to your Stripe account. Solidus issues a credential the user holds and can present anywhere — a portability difference, not a feature-count fight.
Solidus is a public testnet: no mainnet, no token, no external audit, and no paying customer. Every claim below is checkable; none of them are a substitute for the certifications an incumbent already holds.
What Stripe Identity does better
- If you already process payments on Stripe, Identity is a zero-integration checkbox already inside your stack — embedded in infrastructure processing hundreds of billions annually.
- 10+ years of fraud-signal training data from Stripe's payment network, liveness detection, and 100+ country document support — genuinely solid applied engineering.
- Real customers: Discord, Peerspace, and Shippo, backed by the distribution moat of the existing Stripe merchant base.
- A more polished product today: interactive demos, pre-built multilingual UI, professional SaaS finish. Solidus has no equivalent yet.
Where Solidus is different
- Re-verification costs $0.05 instead of the full $1.50 every time — cheaper from the 3rd verification onward.
- The credential travels beyond Stripe. Stripe Identity's own output is an opaque, Stripe-only token — not a user-owned Verifiable Credential.
- Stripe has reportedly raised its per-verification price 50%+ in recent years. The Solidus protocol cost isn't set by one platform's pricing roadmap.
