Credential reuse rate is the share of identity-verification events at a given relying party that were satisfied by an existing, reused credential rather than a fresh check: the fraction of "prove who you are" moments that didn't require a new document scan and liveness capture. A rate of 0% means every user re-verifies from zero, every time, regardless of what credential they might be holding; a rate near 100% would mean almost nobody is re-scanning anything, which is the number a reusable-credential vendor's entire pitch ultimately has to be judged against.
It's the number that would actually prove the economic argument behind Verification Reuse and Re-verification Cost holds up outside a spreadsheet. Cheaper unit economics on paper mean nothing if the reuse event they depend on almost never happens in practice: a low reuse rate means most of a portable-credential vendor's checks are, functionally, priced and delivered exactly like a traditional vendor's, whatever the architecture underneath looks like.
Why it's the hardest number in this whole batch to move
A credential reuse rate isn't something a vendor can improve through better cryptography or a faster SDK. It's gated on the same trust-network problem named throughout this Lexicon: a second, unaffiliated relying party has to actually decide to accept a credential it didn't issue, instead of re-running its own check out of caution, liability concern, or plain unfamiliarity with the issuer. Until that decision happens at scale, reuse rate stays close to zero by definition, not because the technology doesn't work, but because the number of businesses willing to rely on someone else's identity-proofing work is small, and growing that number is a sales and trust problem, not an engineering one.
Solidus today
There is no Solidus reuse-rate number, published or otherwise, because there is no production traffic and no paying customer to measure it from. Anyone quoting a reuse rate for Solidus today, a percentage, a ratio, anything, would be inventing a figure that doesn't exist. This entry states that plainly rather than filling the gap with an illustrative placeholder that could later be mistaken for a real one.

A ratio metric (reused checks ÷ total checks, or reused checks ÷ eligible checks), built from the same generic funnel and retention-metric vocabulary product and growth teams already use elsewhere (activation rate, retention rate), not a term any identity-standards body defined. No credential-reuse-specific industry benchmark for this rate is publicly known to exist, from Solidus or any competitor; the whole category of reusable KYC is young enough that nobody, including the earlier ventures that tried this before Solidus (see Credential Portability), has published one.
